Richmond Police Dept.
The Richmond Police Department is a working jail in Richmond, Texas. We had the opportunity to investigate this historic jail in July of 2013. The original jail and the new area of the building have 100 years of age between them.
This location's most active areas for our teammates were the basement and the gallow. Throughout the evening in the basement we heard a lot of drumming. At first, our team figured it was the sound of one of the officers above us drumming on his desk. However, the lieutenant in charge assured us that there was no drumming going on in the building. We tried using the Ovilus while we were down there and the batteries kept draining almost immediately after putting them in. This happened several times and we finally gave up. Other equipment we had with us was also malfunctioning in this area of the jail.
During the walk-through of the building before we began investigating, I picked up on energy outside of the lieutenants office. He opened the door and showed me he had the cremains of his police dog in the office on his desk. That was the beginning of a very cool investigation.
