Soldier's National Museum
Some of the WHPS team members had a rare opportunity to visit Gettysburg, PA and join in on a few investigations with other members from teams all over the United States with Brad Klinge of Ghost Lab as the lead investigator.
Each of the locations we visited provided us with some awesome experiences and the chance to learn new investigating techniques. These locations included the Historic Fairfield Inn, Soldier's National Museum, Gettysburg Battlefield as well as the Jenny Wade House.
The former orphanage is claimed to be haunted by the ghost of Rosa Carmichael, the head mistress who was known for her cruelty and abuse of children.
During our investigation of the basement, Brad Klinge asked for volunteers to get into a crawl space in the wall where children suffered under the care of Rosa. During the investigation, you could definitely feel the presence of a dark spirit. K2 meters went off, we could feel the temperature drop and you just felt a very eerie feeling come over you. I was one of those inside the space along with two other investigators and I will say I honestly heard shuffling of the dirt from the space behind me. I also felt a breath near my face as if someone or something was looking right at me. Neither of the other two investigators with me were moving around and we were keeping in constant communication with those in the basement to let them know what we were feeling while inside the small confined space. At one point we (all three of us) felt as though someone had picked up some of the dirt with small pieces of rock and threw it towards us...maybe to get our attention. Maybe to let us know that we weren't the only ones in the space.
It truly was one of the more uncomfortable situations I had volunteered to put myself into however, after the stories about the orphanage, the cruelty and this dark spirit, I felt I had to in order to properly represent my teammates back home. I am glad I did it and never backed down.
